The train came to a grinding halt. I payed the man and left without looking back. Two oranges cost me my entire wallet. He wanted a ride to the beach so we pulled over. To bad the sun wasn’t out. I’ll have to call and ask for the clouds to go away.

Mixed up on film.0

I didn’t actually take this picture. It is pretty awesome though. I went to pick up my developed holga film today and see what I got. I was surprised. If I did take this picture of the backyard beer pong party fest then my core score would be rising very quickly. but I didn’t. must have been a mix up on whose film was whose. haha. enjoy. If you know these beer pong players tell them that I have their roll of Holga color film.

Flying at the sun is what it felt like. wrestling my seat with closed eyes I knew I was screwed. Nobody was putting there window shades down, no respect! Lit up so brightly it felt like a mid-day transit flight, however we were flying overnight for nordic terms. In the five days I slept in a series of naps never capturing the rem of an 8 hour slumber. 2 here 2 there, maybe a 4 hour of power for your “dessert” nap. So I guess the flight was par for the course.

Raw volcanic landscapes fought against the harsh greyness of every day. except one. That was the day to play. We checked out our backup spot which ended up becoming our main squeeze for photos and saw a worm holing right reeling around boulders into a beautiful bay. Postcard moments to enjoy, so we suited up and had a rip for 7 hours. Peeling the crusty suits down in chills we got in the car after a day of surf and headed home. It was 11 at night. sunny as a californian afternoon, freezing like an arctic evening. epic!

“Nasty Nate”0

Dismay. Shock. Laughter. Confusion? Inspiration. After finishing the “nasty nate” video on surfline for the first time I was in utter disbelief. I had almost pissed my pants with laughter but at the same felt there were some unanswered questions. Who is Curly otts? Why Kelly fricken Slater? Everyone has been talking about Nate’s debut to the acting world with curiosity of his future. Well we here at 3tree are picking up and running with what Nate has laid down. A madman on a mission to become a hurricane of froth. Go and get em brother!!!!

1. Where did the inspiration for “nasty nate” come from?
Well, it kinda evolved. I have been working with the legendary cinematographer matt wybenga. We were talking about doing something totally off the wall and getting a reaction out of it. We were going through the channels and saw some wrestling on TV. One of us said,” that would be classic to do a rip off of that but have it based around surfing.” I like a lot of the older surf movies where they had stuff like that in them, funny skits. We all surf because its fun. So i figured lets step out on a limb, or maybe we jumped off the limb and do a skit that is fun. try and shock people a bit. something they would remember. love or hate it.

2. Was everything free styled in the interview or did you write those power quotes on paper?
Matt used to be into wrestling as a kid so he knew all the different characters. He did a bit of youtubing and wrote some stuff down. He read some of the lines to me and than I kinda just improvised as we went along.

3. Is “nasty nate” going to be the person who shows up for the next two ct events or do you have another strategy? Discuss your froth.
Nasty nate will be there BROTHERS. Nasty has been trying to lock down an interview with 3 tree, who should nasty get in touch with?

4. Rumor on the streets was that “nasty nate” was just the beginning of your acting, talk to us about your innersection if you can. What can we expect? Grammys? or more of and indie classic?
We are going with another skit. Cant let the cat out of the bag yet, but it will be good. We also have some other ideas up our sleeves for future endeavors. Some people will love it and others will probably thinks its bulls#@t. But life is too short to worry about what everyone thinks. Hopefully they will remember it and it will make them chuckle. Maybe it will get there creative juices flowing.

here is some insight into flynn’s frontside flip, and the thing is absolutely crazy. trying to pull this kind of rotation is one of the hardest things to get a grasp on in surfing, but flynn looks like he is taking care of business just fine! ya flynn!

Father’s day brought in some good times around San Clemente. Got to see Pops land a Sea Bass off the shores of one of the local beach breaks. He wrestled the beast to the water line and glowed with froth from his catch! Here’s a shot of his father’s day catch!!

That’s right, you heard it here first… Boys stepped up and threw down the credit cards and flexed up a trip to Indo. We rolled up to a slower, but large boat known as the Mellaluca. The surf was sick, the barrels were glassy, and the boys were stoked. Aint nothing to it. Flair up all day, and drink bintangs… surfers heaven exists… in Indo? Here’s a couple of lifestyle frame grabs from the trip. Perfect way to kick off summer, and a vacation for the comp surfers. Make it rain babbbby!!!

I fished more than anyone, and caught less than everyone. No worries.. Curry chicken waits on the boat!

Weekend Warriors0

This weekend was gold.. pure gold. Hit a wedding, a bachelor party, surfed numerous times, and then attempted to crush it in our backyard. We had an epiphany midday saturday that we want to throw down a put put in the back yard. Needless to say, the next step was us three, and our two roomates, moving more than 1 ton of earth out of the back yard, and up to the dump. The lady at the dump today looked baffled.. rightfully so!! Here’s some shots of the weekend.
